Accommodation Guide for Patients Traveling to Izmir

Coming to Izmir for an examination or treatment? Which district to stay in, what to look for in a hotel, and practical tips for companions.

Which district to stay in?

Examinations and imaging mostly take place along the Konak–Alsancak axis. Hotels around Alsancak, the Kordon waterfront and Konak are within walking or short taxi distance, with easy access to restaurants and pharmacies. For a quieter stay, Karşıyaka is a 20-minute ferry ride from Konak.

Choosing a hotel

A 24-hour reception gives flexibility around your appointment. An elevator and a room close to the ground floor matter for patients with walking difficulty. Mention at booking if you need an invoice.

Tips for companions

While the patient rests, companions will find markets, pharmacies and cafés within walking distance in Alsancak. On-duty pharmacies are listed at pharmacy entrances.

How many days to plan?

For examination and imaging alone, 1-2 days is usually enough. If a procedure is planned, the stay varies by person; once your appointment is confirmed you receive an estimated schedule. A flexible return ticket is reassuring.

Getting there

From Adnan Menderes Airport, the İZBAN train reaches Alsancak in about 25-30 minutes; a taxi takes 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Allow at least 3 hours for your return trip.
